Education
One of the activities of the Water Institute is the training of civil servants and other employees in the public sector and industry in the field of water management. In accordance with the Regulation on Special Requirements for Carrying Out Water Supply Activities (OG 70/2023), the Water Institute is responsible for Developing and implementing the curriculum for continuous professional training for employees of public suppliers of water supply services, establishing and managing the credit system, and issuing certificates of completion for training programmes. Public suppliers of water supply services are obliged to ensure continuous professional training for their employees, enabling them to accumulate the necessary number of credits, which is a prerequisite for meeting the special conditions for efficient business operations of public suppliers.
The implementation of the training is planned in two parts: a general segment and a specialised segment. As part of the general segment, all employees of public suppliers of water supply services will attend the same lectures, in the duration of 40 hours, covering basic concepts. A written exam will be prepared based on this part, which employees will take after completing the lectures. Upon passing the exam, participants will receive a certificate. The certificate will have to be renewed every 3 or 5 years by attending an additional 40 (for 3-year validity) or 60 (for 5-year validity) hours of lectures and workshops in their field of interest, depending on the role they perform within the public supplier of water supply services.
