Organisational Structure
The primary task of the Monitoring Sector is to ensure reliable data and objective analyses regarding the quality of surface, groundwater, transitional, and coastal waters, as well as water pollution. The Monitoring Sector is responsible for establishing monitoring systems (in accordance with the Water Act and the Act on Water for Human Consumption). Moreover, it is also responsible for preparing the monitoring plan as mandated by the Water Act. The sector is also responsible for drafting the annual report, which interprets the monitoring results, as well as for conducting part of the monitoring mandated by the Water Act through the Main Water Laboratory (with the remainder carried out via procurement of services on the market). Additionally, the Monitoring Sector provides expert support in domestic and international relations on matters within its scope.
