Strategic Planning Sector

The Strategic Planning Sector is responsible for developing expert and analytical foundations for water management, particularly in developing water management strategies, river basin management plans, flood risk management, and multi-annual water infrastructure construction programmes. It also undertakes the preparation of expert and analytical foundations for the integration of water service sectors and the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Furthermore, it develops base materials related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analytics, efficiency evaluation models for suppliers of water supply services, and expert analyses of water policy impacts on target groups and society as a whole. The Strategic Planning Sector is also responsible for training civil servants and other employees in the public and private sectors in the field of water management (within its scope of work), conducting expert assessments in water management, and providing professional support in domestic and international relations on relevant matters. In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, the Sector also prepares analyses, guidelines, notices, and opinions on national and EU legislation, international agreements in the field of water policy, and other sectors that impact water policies.
