Start of construction works on the drinking water conditioning facility at the Jadro river source
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, and the Minister of Environment and Green Transition, Marija Vučković, attended the ceremonial event marking the start of construction works on the drinking water conditioning facility at the source of the Jadro River.
The project, valued at EUR 34 million (excluding VAT), will ensure a long-term, safe, and high-quality water supply for more than 250,000 residents of the wider Split area, with a permanent reduction in water turbidity and full compliance with health standards.
Construction works began in 2025, with completion scheduled for 2027, while the handover of the system is expected in 2028. The project is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, with support from Croatian Waters and the EBRD.
The “Josip Juraj Strossmayer” Water Institute systematically carries out monitoring and assessment of water quality at surface, groundwater, and transitional water monitoring stations on the Jadro River. The results are published annually in the Water Status Report and are available at the provided link.
