12 contracts worth 86.2 million euros are handed over by NRRP 2021-2026

On Thursday, 3 August 2023, 12 contracts were awarded at the National and University Library for the award of grants for projects in the field of water management under the Call for financing the implementation of investment projects related to smaller parts of the public water supply and public sewerage system and the Call for financing disaster risk reduction projects under the National Reconstruction and Resilience Plan.
“When the Republic of Croatia joined the EU, the situation in the area of water supply and municipal infrastructure was not satisfactory. We had a relatively low connection rate to the public sewage system. EU membership and the generous EU funds have enabled significant progress in the development of water and municipal infrastructure in recent years,” said Mario Šiljeg, Director of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute. Director Šiljeg emphasised that activities in recent years have focused on achieving three goals: mitigating the effects of climate change through the construction of protective structures, protecting the environment through new wastewater treatment plants and raising the standards of Croatian citizens through modern water infrastructure.
