Results of the Analysis of Target Parameters as Part of the Expanded Surface Water Monitoring Programme in Lika-Senj County

The Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute continued its expanded monitoring of selected parameters at five surface water locations in Lika-Senj County in October 2026: the Lika River at Bilaj; the Lika River at Ostrvica Bridge; the Lika River at Budak; the Brlog Reservoir at Gusić Polje; and the Novčica River upstream of its confluence with the Lika River.

Sampling was carried out at all the above locations on 12 October 2026.

The collected samples were analysed for PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acid and its derivatives), antimony, arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, zinc and dissolved organic carbon (DOC).

Under the surface water monitoring programme, environmental quality standards have been established for PFOS and its derivatives among PFAS compounds; therefore PFOS was included in this assessment.

At all sampling locations, PFOS concentrations were below the quantification limit of the analytical method used (< 0.00065 µg/L).

For the parameters for which the Regulation on Water Quality Standards establishes applicable surface water quality standards, the results obtained do not indicate any exceedances of the prescribed limit values.

The individual results of all analyses, broken down by sampling location, are presented in the attached table.
