The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) and the Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute sign a partnership agreement as part of the 2nd European Green Conference. This is an important step in the realisation of the KlimProPos project, which aims to establish a modern system for monitoring climate change and its consequences.

The KlimProPos project will improve the DHMZ’s capacity for environmental modelling, increase the efficiency of forecasts and warnings of weather and water extremes, develop systems for faster communication of warnings to citizens and emergency services, and strengthen climate change adaptation and mitigation measures.

The Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute will further develop its capacity to implement adaptation measures and strengthen resilience to climate change in the water and municipal sectors to ensure sustainable management of water resources in the face of increasingly intense and frequent climate extremes.

The partnership between DHMZ and the Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute is crucial for the transformation of Croatia into a climate-neutral country that is resilient to weather and water extremes. This partnership plays a crucial role in maximising Croatia’s potential for climate change mitigation and adaptation and in strengthening the resilience of communities and the economy.

The signed agreement is the basis for further building a sustainable future for Croatia.
