Institute for the sixth WorkIn' Science of the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb

As part of the sixth Career Day WorkIn’ Science – WISe, which took place on 5 November 2024 at the Faculty of Science in Zagreb, an interactive presentation was held with numerous companies and institutions with the aim of informing students from all faculty departments about the labour market and opportunities for internships and employment after graduation.
Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute had the opportunity to explain the work, activities and role of the Institute to all participants of the event, as well as to provide detailed information about one of the most important tasks of the Institute – water quality monitoring. In addition, the participants had the opportunity to use a stereoscope to gain a practical insight into the abundance and diversity of the macroscopic invertebrate community and how this community changes in response to changes in the conditions of the waters they inhabit.
Through interactive communication with students, representatives of the Institute of Water, Dr Marina Šumanović and Margareta Krešić, advisor in the Director’s office, presented the possibilities of existing models of cooperation with students through the organisation of student internships, as well as the development of new models of professional training aimed at finding quality future potential employees.
