As the Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute points out, the quality of groundwater in Croatia is satisfactory, and Croatia can boast better groundwater quality than is the case in developed countries. However, it is important to preserve the purity and quality of groundwater, as it is a very vulnerable system and is exposed to various pollutants.

Proper management and administration of groundwater and its protection means good monitoring of the quality and quantity of groundwater and necessary measures in areas where deterioration has occurred, explained Dr Draženka Stipaničev, head of the Institute’s main laboratory, among others.
